CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.056/185.74, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.048/184.17, Was #8
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.020/186.12, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.970/188.78, Was #1

6:09 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 29.21 inches, adjusted altitude 2,646 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.The first two pairs are from the Pro Stock Battle.

Both bikes make clean passes, but don't improve.


Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.037/187.60, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.007/189.18, Was #2
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.118/182.53, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.030/186.79, Was #6

The track temperate has dropped from earlier todaay, but it's still warm out there. Neither bike improves.

Left Lane: Buddy Robinson No Time, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.464/175.66, Was #28

Robinson's bike broke after her hit the throttle.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.230/184.32, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.180/187.13, Was #20

Nice pass, but he will stay #20. Geno Scali is on the bump spot at 7.151.

Left Lane: David Hope Runs 7.403/173.12, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.355/175.07, Was #25

Different rider, same story. No improvement.

Left Lane: Dean Frantz Runs 7.380/175.39, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.359/175.80, Was #26
Right Lane: Wes Wells Runs 7.169/183.69, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.191/183.59, Was #21

Wells picks up a spot, but won't improve enough to qualify.

Left Lane: Darin McCurdy Runs 7.424/175.96, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.313/179.61, Was #24
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.643/169.64, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.631/170.36, Was #29



Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.076/188.44, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.144/189.26, Was #14
Right Lane: Brian DeLong Runs 7.533/158.99, Now #27; Best prior run: 7.403/172.81, Was #27

WOW! Treble makes a strong pass for the conditions and moves four spots up the ladder.

Left Lane: Barry Henson Runs 7.198/181.86, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.151/185.38, Was #17

Most everyone is running a nickle to a dime slower than earlier.

Left Lane: Tom Bradford Runs 7.207/178.68, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.140/181.96, Was #14
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.164/181.84, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.155/184.27, Was #18

Berry runs closer to his prior times than most, but stays #18 for now.

Left Lane: Antron Brown No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.070/186.51, Was #9
Right Lane: Steve Johnson No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.091/187.83, Was #12

Weird?? Browns bike is pushed off to the side first and then JOhnson can't start his engine either.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.123/169.81, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.018/188.31, Was #4
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.078/183.84, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.115/185.95, Was #13

No joy for Stoffer, but Kraawiec runs the quickest pass of the session and moves two spots up the ladder.

Left Lane: Peggy Llewellyn Runs 7.077/185.87, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.029/187.34, Was #5
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.171/182.11, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.079/186.00, Was #12

LLyewellyn has to do a lot of leaning to keep the bike in the groove. Neither bike improves.

Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.038/186.30, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.016/187.39, Was #3
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.103/185.95, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.044/188.83, Was #7

Last pair! Rivas knows how to tune for the conditions! He's not a quick as some off the line, but runs a nice low seven pass to end the session.
