Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 23rd annual Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.672/207.50, Now #2; Best prior run: 15.133/55.02, Was #24
Right Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.911/201.79, Now #24; Best prior run: 6.884/201.55, Was #23

Weather conditions: air temperature 59 degrees, relative humidity 24 percent, barometer 28.82 inches, adjusted altitude 1,405 feet, under cloudy conditions, track temperature 82 degrees.

Coughlin after having problems in the first round has a monster run here to go the number two spot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.798, 660ft-4.296/164.77mph, 1,000ft-5.582


Left Lane: Dwayne Rice Runs 6.794/201.22, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.848/203.61, Was #23
Right Lane: Tony Rizzo Runs 6.782/203.61, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.742/204.60, Was #19

The bump is now Ron Krisher at 6.728. Rice makes a move in the right direction, but not enough.

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 13.334/64.29, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.839/204.76, Was #23
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.700/206.92, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.741/204.91, Was #18

Humphreys with problems right off the starting line and clicks it off. Gaines gets into the show and that bumps out Krisher and puts Max Naylor on the bump spot at 6.719.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.709/205.91, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.748/206.04, Was #21
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.710/206.99, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.730/204.32, Was #18

Both car just get into the show and that bumped out Kurt Johnson and Max Naylor.

Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.744/205.66, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.744/205.26, Was #21
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.715/206.35, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.728/205.07, Was #19

Krisher just misses getting into the show.

Left Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.690/206.13, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.719/206.67, Was #19
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 11.763/71.91, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.707/205.85, Was #14

Naylor with a great looking pass and gets into the top half of the show. Naylor bumped out Stanfield. Max Naylor's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.790, 660ft-4.297/163.71mph, 1,000ft-5.593 Edwards with problems early in the run and shuts it off.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.713/206.67, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.716/207.34, Was #19
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.695/207.21, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.704/206.35, Was #13

WJ with a real nice looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.796, 660ft-4.305/163.28mph, 1,000ft-5.600 Kurt improves, but not enough to get into the show.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 12.464/67.68, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.705/207.18, Was #14
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.659/207.59, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.699/206.29, Was #12

Johnson with tire shake right off the starting line and shut it off. Koretsky got all of this on to go to the number one spot. This was a great pass. Kenny Koretsky's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.780, 660ft-4.280/163.93mph, 1,000ft-5.569

Left Lane: Roger Brogdon Runs 6.684/207.02, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.697/207.46, Was #11
Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 11.994/73.10, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.697/206.20, Was #12

Enders with tire shake and she shuts it off. Brogdon with clean pass to get into the top half of the show. Roger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.796, 660ft-4.300/164.03mph, 1,000ft-5.592

Left Lane: Tom Martino Runs 6.680/206.83, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.696/206.89, Was #11
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.686/207.02, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.695/206.20, Was #10

Martino and Yates move into the to half of the show. Tom Martino's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.786, 660ft-4.292/163.77mph, 1,000ft-5.586
Jim Yates' incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.790, 660ft-4.297/163.22mph, 1,000ft-5.591

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.642/208.84, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.677/207.78, Was #4
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.658/207.53, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.691/206.29, Was #10

This was great drag race as these two got to the number one and two spots. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.783, 660ft-4.276/165.33mph, 1,000ft-5.558
Richie Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.276/164.25mph, 1,000ft-5.566

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.681/207.98, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.667/208.39, Was #4
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.672/207.59, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.679/207.15, Was #6

Anderson with a lot of tire shake, but he drives through it, but will not improve. Connolly improves a little but will stay in the number five spot.
