POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 time trials in Nostalgia Top Fuel & Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 47th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Bob Godfrey Runs 6.460/198.41, Now #2
Right Lane: Lee Jennings Runs 6.125/211.33, Now #1

2:58 p.m. Jennings starts off the program with a nice looking run for the Code Red car. Godfrey, with Gaynor power, gets a baseline.

Left Lane: Kris Krabill Runs 6.294/231.83, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Savage Runs 8.076/120.23, Now #4

Savage got loose in the Speed Sport car and clicks it early. Krabill wandered around a bit but sets top speed.

Left Lane: Adam Sorokin Runs 5.719/261.72, Now #1
Right Lane: Troy Green Runs 5.945/229.12, Now #2

Sorokin sets the ET mark for the AA/FDs early in the festivities and runs a big speed as well. Green will incur the wrath of the Druids as he dumped some nasty stuff on the pristine racing surface.

Left Lane: Brendan Murry Runs 9.417/90.10, Now #8
Right Lane: Jack Harris Runs 5.913/256.99, Now #2

Murry was away first but he closed rapidly on the center stripe. Off the pedal, he coasted on out. Harris really didn't close to what I expected so it's Sorokin that walks away with honors in round one.
