POMONA, Calif. -- Top racers will be the guests at the Automobile Club Southern California's question & answer session at Friday's (Nov. 10th) Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum's Night of Champions. NHRA Announcer Bob Frey will preside at the event following their second day of qualifying for the Auto Club NHRA Finals (Nov. 9-12).

Professional drivers scheduled to answer questions are Top Fuel pilot J.R. Todd, Pro Stock Bike rider Craig Treble along with Funny Car drivers Robert Hight and Phil Burkart.

The admission-free Night of Champions, which begins at 5:45 p.m., brings together racing fans with some of the drivers competing in the NHRA POWERade Series' Auto Club Finals at the nearby Pomona Raceway along with past champions of the event. It's just one more example of the Museum's "living history" project, said Tony Thacker, executive director of the Parks Museum, which is presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California.

The Museum has extended operating hours during the 2006 Auto Club NHRA Finals at nearby Pomona Raceway. On Wed., Nov. 8, the Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Thurs., the hours are 10.a.m to 6 p.m. and the free tram between the sites operates from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. On Fri., Nov. 10 and Sat. Nov. 11, the Museum opens at 9 a.m. and remains open until 10 p.m. with two trams operating from 9 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Sun., Nov. 12 hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. with trams running from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. The Museum is closed on Nov. 13-14.

Two current exhibits will be new for those racing fans who come out for the races. "Faster: 1960s Photographs of Pomona Drag Racing," presented by the Auto Club and "50 Years of American Racing Wheels" showing the history of that company are both open at the Museum.

Named for the founder of the National Hot Rod Association, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California houses the very roots of hot rodding. Scores of famous vehicles spanning American motorsports history are on display, including winning cars representing 50 years of drag racing, dry lakes and salt-flat racers, oval track challengers and exhibits describing their colorful backgrounds.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., PST. Current NHRA members are admitted free. Admission for non-members is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors 60 and older, $4 for juniors six through 15, and free for children under the age of five. The Museum is also available for private parties, meetings, corporate events, weddings and special group tours. The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is located at Fairplex Gate 1, 1101 W. McKinley Ave. in Pomona. For further information on special exhibits, museum events or directions, call 909/622-2133 or visit http://museum.nhra.com.
