AA/Gas Supercharged Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Darryl Jackman

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in AA/Gas Supercharged at the Goodguys, 8th Annual Fuel and Gas Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Howard Anderson Runs 12.510/70.89, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.832/203.71, Was #4
Right Lane: Steve Woods Runs 6.643/209.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.713/207.70, Was #2

3:07 p.m. Steve Woods drives around Ed Moss to take the qualifying lead here in the final session of AA/GS. Anderson was all over the left lane and shut off every early in the run.

Left Lane: Dale Boomgaarden Runs 6.756/207.85, Now #3; Best prior run: 11.537/59.46, Was #11
Right Lane: Mike Leonard Runs 6.832/202.56, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.882/202.20, Was #6

Great side by side pair. Boomgaarden punches his way in and Leonard remains #6.

Left Lane: Cecil Matthews Runs 7.420/188.32, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.132/195.69, Was #10
Right Lane: Ed Moss Runs 6.726/209.59, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.707/208.86, Was #2

Matthews with just a brutal John Force burnout in the T-bird. The burnout doesn't help and Matthews will watch on Sunday. Moss can't catch Woods.

Left Lane: Rich Roberts Runs 7.369/185.29, Now #11; No Prior Run
Right Lane: John Peterson Runs 6.935/197.10, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.028/193.29, Was #9

Peterson gets in on the bump but for the moment he's a sunday racer. Looks like an early exit for Roberts.

Left Lane: Sean Renteria Runs 7.047/195.05, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.833/204.91, Was #7
Right Lane: Ron Nahas Runs 6.995/193.71, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.515/131.44, Was #12

Renteria doesn't improve from his first hit but remains #7. Nahas gets in the sixes with his new Willys but doesn't quite crack the field.

Left Lane: Chris Abbey Runs 6.785/204.87, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.811/202.38, Was #4
Right Lane: Gary Reinero Runs 7.080/193.38, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.976/196.89, Was #9

Just not quite enough for Reinero as he remains the first alternate. Abbey doesn't improve but he's #4. That was the final pair and we close out this qualifying session.
