BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in AA/Gas Supercharged at the Goodguys, 8th Annual Fuel and Gas Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Ed Moss Runs 6.707/208.86, Now #1 Right Lane: Howard Anderson Runs 6.832/203.71, Now #2 3:13 p.m. Moss had the front wheels in the air at the hit and again as the car went into second and third gears. Anderson trailed Moss but had a good looking run as well. Left Lane: John Peterson Runs 7.028/193.29, Now #4 Right Lane: Sean Renteria Runs 6.833/204.91, Now #3 Renteria takes this pairing and Peterson trailed just a bit. Left Lane: Ron Nahas Runs 7.515/131.44, Now #5 Right Lane: Dale Boomgaarden Runs 11.537/59.46, Now #6 Nahas is new to Goodguys but has run this Willys elsewhere. He's away first but has handling problems after that. Boomgaarden slows early in the run and no reason was apparent. Left Lane: Mike Leonard Runs 6.882/202.20, Now #4 Right Lane: Cecil Matthews Runs 7.132/195.69, Now #6 Leonard puts his big steel Chevelle into the top half of the field for the moment. Matthews it a couple of spots in back of him. Left Lane: Steve Woods Runs 6.713/207.70, Now #2 Right Lane: Chris Abbey Runs 6.811/202.38, Now #3 Woods can't quite catch Moss but winds up nipping at his heels. Abbey is right behind him. Left Lane: Gary Reinero Runs 6.976/196.89, Now #7 Reinero closes out the session with a straight and clean pass that puts him in the bottom part of the show and closes out the Friday session.
