BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in A FUEL at the Goodguys, 8th Annual Fuel and Gas Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Darrell Waters Runs 6.458/213.62, Now #1 Right Lane: Claude Lavoie Runs 6.889/216.55, Now #2 3:01 p.m. Lavoie had to lift a bit at the hit as the front wheels got a bit of air. Waters held on to the lead and beats Lavoie to the line. Left Lane: Bill Wayne Runs 6.420/218.49, Now #1 Right Lane: Bill Genco Runs 7.141/168.98, Now #4 Two blown cars here and lots of RPMs at the hit. Waqyne shook and spun the tires but got to the finish first. Genco with a few problems. Left Lane: Nick Norton Runs 6.609/206.75, Now #4 Right Lane: Kin Bates Runs 6.438/220.15, Now #2 Bates can't catch Wayne and falls in behind him at #2. Norton trailed in this one as his racer was using up just a bit of lane.
