POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Hot Rod at the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Sixth Annual Nitto Tire NHRA Sport Compact World Finals:

Crawford's tough luck continues, he broke on the line, after working very late last night on his Mopar. Kenny Tran's incremental times: 60ft-1.676 sec., 330ft-4.184, 660ft-6.023/133.41mph, 1,000ft-7.609

Eggum has a very slim chance at the championship. Lummus has to lose in the 2nd round (he has a single in round one), she must win the race, AND set the national record.

Chuck took too much at the stripe and lit up the big red light. Eggum marches on - the big drama continues for the 2006 Hot Rod Championship.

Del Rasario won this by four car lengths, he'll face Eggum in round two, and Eggum will have lane choice.

This was a wild one! Ames got the green light, but his motor caught on fire on the line. Bridges red lighted and broke on the line. The fire was put out quickly and if Ames can get the car fixed, he'll move on to the next round.

He blasted to his best pass of the weekend here. Ron Lummus' incremental times: 60ft-1.396 sec., 330ft-3.653, 660ft-5.427/139.00mph, 1,000ft-6.961.

Ron is scheduled to race Ames in the next round... 11:32 a.m.
