POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Hot Rod at the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Sixth Annual Nitto Tire NHRA Sport Compact World Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Ricky Dela Cruz No Time, Now #8; Best prior run: 9.733/153.89, Was #7
Right Lane: Jason Ames Runs 9.465/153.09, Now #7; Best prior run: 9.382/151.17, Was #6

Dela Cruz broke on the line, Ames had a fast run, but it was not quicker than he ran in the last round.

We're down to clear Cruz's car. 4:11 p.m.

Left Lane: Mike Crawford No Time, Now #10; Best prior run: 14.530/55.94, Was #10
Right Lane: Chuck Seitsinger Runs 8.393/180.40, Now #2; Best prior run: 9.777/107.21, Was #9

Crawford pulled out of the staging lanes during round two, evidently the team found something wrong and didn' run.

Boom! Crawford had something big go wrong. The smoke was large, the oil is on the track, and Mike came to a safe stop near the wall.

Left Lane: Eric Del Rosario Runs 9.369/158.39, Now #6; Best prior run: 9.139/161.63, Was #6
Right Lane: Bryan Bridges No Time, Now #7; Best prior run: 9.192/149.45, Was #7

After a 40 minute cleanup of the left lane, we'll now have to clean the right, as Bridges broke right on the line, but trailed "stuff" for some distance.

Left Lane: Kenny Tran Runs 8.387/168.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 8.402/169.91, Was #3
Right Lane: Stephanie Eggum Runs 9.920/100.70, Now #1; Best prior run: 8.242/182.62, Was #1

Eggum lifted after her Honda started skating around, Tran moves up to the 2nd spot.

Right Lane: Ron Lummus Runs 8.340/173.12, Now #2; Best prior run: 8.422/174.03, Was #4

Lummus is right where he wants to be in the ladder, a win in the first round will pretty much put a lock on his 2006 championship hopes. Ron Lummus' incremental times: 60ft-1.408 sec., 330ft-3.700, 660ft-5.498/137.65mph, 1,000ft-7.039
