REYNOLDS, Ga. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Southeast Division, event at Silver Dollar Raceway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Bob Leverich Runs 8.391/127.04, Now #1

4:08 p.m. Leverich had a couple of holes out at the hit, stays on the throttle for half-track, then finally backs off the throttle.

Left Lane: Dick Garlets Runs 5.880/234.00, Now #1
Right Lane: Dan Lucas No Time, Now #3

Lucas hits the throttle, loses traction, then backs off the throttle. Garlets goes right down the groove and takes the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Bill Evans Runs 7.707/177.74, Now #2
Right Lane: Ron Griffis Runs 9.483/93.10, Now #4

Both dragsters had cylinders out at the hit, Griffis backs off the throttle around half-track, Evans keeps it on the floor all the way through the run.

Left Lane: Artie Allen Runs 5.673/253.85, Now #1
Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 6.221/227.96, Now #3

Allen rattles the tires early in the run but drives through it and makes a decent run. No apparent problems for Thacker.

Left Lane: Ashley Force Runs 5.499/261.37, Now #1
Right Lane: Aaron Olivarez Runs 5.682/253.33, Now #3

Olivarez and Force, number 1 and 2 in the division. Olivarez holds a slim 9 point lead over Force. Force will have to go one round further to win the division championship, Olivarez just needs to equal her effort to take the championship.

A couple of pretty good runs here, both right down the groove. Force makes a great pass to take the number 1 spot by almost 2 tenths over Allen, Olivarez gets in the third spot for now.

Left Lane: Richard Putz Runs 5.406/260.11, Now #1
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.892/194.72, Now #6

Putz is really going to put the pressure on Force and Olivarez, going right down the groove, setting the track record and running a season best to take the top spot. Mercier rattle the tires off the line, pedaled about 300 feet outn then went on through for a decent run to get in the sixth spot.
