REYNOLDS, Ga. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Southeast Division, event at Silver Dollar Raceway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Keeter Ray Runs 5.958/227.38, Now #1

3:53 p.m. Ray starts drifting around early in the run, then gets close to the center-line, almost taking out the last timing cone.

Left Lane: Steve Franke Runs 7.510/182.53, Now #2
Right Lane: Monty Todd Runs 8.065/114.98, Now #3

Todd gets about 500 feet out, the engine pops, then the car noses over.

Left Lane: John Sullivan Runs 8.705/98.77, Now #5
Right Lane: Mark Billington Runs 5.995/241.07, Now #2

Sullivan rattles the tires off the line and clicks it off early. Billington goes right down the groove and gets in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: Steve Harker Runs 9.544/89.73, Now #7
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 6.009/248.75, Now #3

Payne gets about 300 feet out, gets a little out of the groove and has to pedal. Harker shakes the tires and has to abort the run.
