NOBLE, Okla. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, South Central Division, event at Thunder Valley Raceway Park listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 5.813/241.54, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.833/241.54, Was #9
Right Lane: Roger Bateman Runs 5.658/254.81, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.707/252.24, Was #2

Kinsley's best effort of the weekend falls a little short. Bateman was to the left of the groove early and he was pressing the centerline at half track.

Left Lane: Marty Nothstein No Time, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.807/251.04, Was #8
Right Lane: Shawn Jones Runs 5.775/253.23, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.773/251.18, Was #7

Nothstein had problems starting his engine in the staging lanes. Jones was skating around a little, but it was a good looking pass for the young driver who hasn't seen much seat time this season.

Left Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 6.051/224.10, Now #12; Best prior run: 8.496/130.79, Was #14
Right Lane: Mike Newkirk Runs 8.306/128.81, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.520/156.03, Was #13

Van Hauen began trailing smoke at about 1000 feet, and he left a little oil in the shutdown area. Newkirk shook the tires hard on the hit, then he got out of shape and close to the wall at 400 feet.

Left Lane: Kirk Williams Runs 5.783/248.34, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.783/248.34, Was #8
Right Lane: Ron Morrison No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.941/245.09, Was #11

A good looking pass for Williams. Morrison was unable to hold the car at the line and he rolled through the beams before the tree was activated.

Left Lane: Jimmy Jones Runs 5.713/253.44, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.744/255.10, Was #5
Right Lane: Brandon Lewis Runs 5.806/245.23, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.769/248.07, Was #6

A good looking pass for Jones moves him up a couple spots on the ladder. Lewis was to the left of the groove from about 300 through 600 feet.

Left Lane: Paul Anderson Runs 8.658/103.29, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.732/249.72, Was #5

Anderson shook the tires on the launch. He pedaled it at about 100 feet, and that didn't accomplish what he wanted so he was off the throttle at about 400 feet.

Left Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.698/253.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.707/254.95, Was #2

A trouble-free pass by Harker brings Alcohol Funny Car qualifying to a close.
