NOBLE, Okla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, South Central Division, event at Thunder Valley Raceway Park listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Brandon Lewis Runs 5.804/248.07, Now #1
Right Lane: Kirk Williams Runs 13.502/73.08, Now #2

A good looking pass for Lewis. William had severe tire shake on the hit.

Left Lane: Mike Newkirk Runs 14.123/43.40, Now #4
Right Lane: Jimmy Jones Runs 5.772/248.48, Now #1

Newkirk shook hard on the hit, stayed on the throttle and was almost sideways at 200 where the chute deployed. Jones took it straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Ron Morrison Runs 6.278/218.55, Now #4
Right Lane: Paul Anderson Runs 5.946/246.71, Now #3

Anderson had to drive through some early tire shake. Morrison was trailing heavy smoke beginning at about 800 feet, but he left a clean track.

Left Lane: Shawn Jones Runs 5.874/236.84, Now #3
Right Lane: Vern Moats Runs 7.029/136.28, Now #6

Moats was very close to the wall at half track. Jones began trailing heavy smoke just past the 1000-foot mark. He left some oil on the track.

Left Lane: Roger Bateman Runs 7.045/152.46, Now #7
Right Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 8.496/130.79, Now #8

Severe tire shake on the hit in both lanes.

Left Lane: Jackie Stidham Runs 5.804/246.23, Now #3
Right Lane: Marty Nothstein Runs 6.284/173.31, Now #7

Both drivers was skating around some. Nothstein was off the throttle before the finish, the reason not apparent from here.

Right Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.762/246.57, Now #1

Harker took it straight down the groove to move into the top spot.

---

Right Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 5.833/241.54, Now #5

No problems for Kinsley on this solo pass.
