1:14 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 30.15 inches, adjusted altitude 1,031 feet, track temperature 115 degrees.

Kaplan opens the round with the #1 qualifier's single. Odd number of cars so he gets and advantage. Kaplan won his first ever national event last weekend at Seattle so he automatically wins his 6th round straight in Comp. Nice light on the shutoff run.

Carter was away first but Carter caught him pretty early and paced Moscini for the win.

Lion made the burnout and as he coasted to a stop black smoke was rolling out of the car. Surely not tire smoke. He bailed in a hurry and the starting line crew hosed down the drivers foot well with the fire extinguisher. Harrison takes advantage and clicks it way early. Harrison will face Fitzgerald in the next round.

This has been an ugly round so far has Hugger is pushed away after his burnout as well. Deceglie does the right thing by clicking it good and early. 60 mph slower than qualifying.
