7:06 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 29.30 inches, adjusted
altitude 2,750 feet, track temperature 100 degrees.Wilkes benefitted from Warford's misfortune, his car developing a severe
misfire when he pulled out from under the tower. With the lengthy cleanup on the top end, a gaggle of people gathered around Wilkes'
engine compartment and performed major surgery to eliminate the misfire - it still sounds a bit rough, so they may have disabled one
cylinder.
Probably had all eight, nice run by Wilkes to advance despite Gifford's psychic light. Wilkes faces Warford next round -
if Warford is able to answer the staging call.
