Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Larry Sullivan

EDMONTON, Alb. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Alcohol Funny Car at the 2006 eMax Drag Racing Series, CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Racing Fuels listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Evanchuk Runs 6.123/229.78, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.148/228.15, Was #10
Right Lane: Scott McVey Runs 6.820/204.70, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.408/219.40, Was #11

7:38 p.m. Roger Bateman is on the bump spot at 6.020. With 13 cars on the grounds, five of them will be headed home after this session.

McVey's car trailed a light haze most of the way - couldn't tell if it was tire smoke or engine smoke. Evanchuk improved slightly, moved to the first alternate spot, McVey could not match his run from last night.

Left Lane: Nathan Sitko Runs 6.146/224.14, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.144/223.84, Was #10

Sitko almost matched his best run of the weekend, but stayed outside the field.

Left Lane: Roger Bateman Runs 5.958/235.64, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.020/233.28, Was #8
Right Lane: Kevin Therres Runs 6.419/171.01, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.993/232.35, Was #7

Therres popped the blower, sending the hood hatch sailing at half track. Bateman made his best run of the weekend, moving away from the bottom rung of the ladder, moving Therres down to that spot.

Left Lane: Ken Kraus Runs 5.948/232.67, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.938/233.52, Was #4

Nice run by Kraus, but it was not his best by a hundredth and he stayed fourth.

Left Lane: Rob Atchison Runs 5.883/242.84, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.935/241.89, Was #3
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.969/236.80, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.943/234.61, Was #5

If McMillen stays fifth, he will run the #1 qualifier in round one - if he moves up one spot, he'll race the #8 qualifier.

Atchison got way out next to the wall and did not lift, moving up to second in the field. McMillen was unable to improve and will race the #1 qualifier tomorrow.

Left Lane: Trevor Lebsack Runs 6.000/232.39, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.920/233.28, Was #3
Right Lane: Mark Thomas Runs 5.982/237.42, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.855/242.32, Was #1

Last pair. Lebsack got way out toward the wall, Thomas also appeared to be out of the groove, neither improved.
