EDMONTON, Alb. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Nostalgia at the 2006 eMax Drag Racing Series, CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Racing Fuels listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:

Left Lane: Not on File Runs 7.423/179.04/-0.077, Now #0 PN Index: 7.50
Right Lane: Jay Mageau Runs 7.641/180.62/0.141, Now #0 PN Index: 7.50

4:01 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 28.09 inches,adjusted altitude 3,215 feet, track temperature 103 degrees.

These are the cars formerly known as "Thunderbolts," now called "Pro Nostalgia." It's a 7.50 indexed Funny Car group.

No data yet on the left-lane driver, looks like a '67 Camaro flopper.

The unknown driver broke out, Mageau was on the safe side of the index.

Right Lane: Joey Steckler Runs 7.515/182.23/7.515, Now #0 TB Index: 0.00

Steckler has a great shot at the #1 qualifier spot with that run in his bright-yellow '69 Corvette.

Left Lane: Sherrie Bodnarchuk No Time, Now #0 TB Index: 0.00
Right Lane: Cory Kincaid No Time, Now #0 PN Index: 7.50

Bodnarchuk's Superbird died at the end of the burnout and had to be pushed back before Kincaid could stage his '77 Trans Am. He hit the throttle and the RPMs went way up, something in the driveline letting go, and the car just moved a few inches.

Right Lane: Dave Robinson Runs 7.989/167.74/0.489, Now #0 PN Index: 7.50

Apparently Webb's '70 Nova would not fire (we cannot see the head of the staging lanes from here) and Robinson made a solo pass. The engine never did come up into the power band on this run.

Plaizier moves into the second spot (unofficially) on that one.

Left Lane: Tony Coopress Runs 7.362/188.78/7.362, Now #0 TB Index: 0.00

Coopress shook and took a hard look at the left wall before getting very far down the track. He still broke out by over a tenth off a second.
