Correction to Grand Bend Reporter's Notebook

GRAND BEND, Ont. In my notebook feature on the Mopar Canadian Nationals I reported that
Elijah Morton had tried a Ford Pro Stock engine from the Robert Patrick camp
for one qualifying run on Friday. I received this information from Elijah
Morton, himself, in his pit space at Grand Bend. I also personally observed
that both of his enginešs valve covers had been lettered with a magic marker
to say J & B Engines. The lettering was in an area of the valve covers that
is usually adorned with the decals of his normal engine vendor, Mike Allen
Competition Engines.
Since the publication of that article I have heard from Robert Patrick.
Robert emphatically stated that, "At no time has Elijah Morton ever been in
possession of a Robert Patrick engine." Robert did admit during our
conversation that he had a conversation with Elijah about the possibility of
such a situation, but that it had never actually occurred.
In a subsequent conversation, Elijah Morton agreed that he has never had
a Robert Patrick engine. Elijah further stated, "This came about because
several people, in the days and weeks leading up to Grand Bend event, had
asked me if I had a Robert Patrick engine because that was the rumor that
they had heard. In a playful moment I decided to go along with the rumor in
the Grand Bend pits and lettered my valve covers accordingly. I now
sincerely regret the confusion that has arisen from this situation," Elijah
concluded.
