19 Mike Janis 1051 Jim Halsey
E1 0.198 8.150 140.82 ****WINNER**** 0.053 6.174 225.62
 Qualified: #9 6.244 194.00 #8 6.244 225.79
7:01 p.m. Janis shook and had to lift, handing the win to Halsey. Probably didn't matter, the only nitrous car in the field made a very nice run anyway.

5083 Cody Barklage 4302 Doug Palmer
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.114 6.143 232.73 0.229 6.743 138.93
 Qualified: #10 6.255 200.49 #7 6.244 227.73
Palmer's car headed for the centerline and he had the chutes out way before the finish line. Very nice run by young barklage, his first round win ever (in his first professional race ever) and a full tenth quicker than he qualified.

763 Kirk Kuhns 57 Joshua Hernandez
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.088 6.346 222.88 0.067 7.320 138.44
 Qualified: #12 6.317 223.38 #5 6.198 228.89
Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 29.93 inches, adjusted altitude 508 feet, track temperature 74 degrees.

Hernandez had the better light and led past 330 feet, but then Kuhns reeled him in and led the rest of the way, pulling away on the top end when Hernandez slowed at half track.

1010 Troy Critchley 7 Quain Stott
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.097 6.176 227.33 0.107 7.149 134.46
 Qualified: #14 6.662 222.77 #3 6.135 231.54
Stott's car made several hard moves toward the centerline. Quain fought it all the way, allowing Critchley to drive away for the win. Give Critchley credit, after two horrible qualifying runs, he went right down the groove on a very nice run for the win.

14 Ed Hoover 1853 Thomas Patterson
E1 0.112 7.189 172.28 ****WINNER**** 0.095 7.107 201.92

This was wild, Hoover way out in front and pulling away while Patterson's car did everything but cross the center line. Then Hoover's car slowed markedly and Patterson drove by for the win. Thomas Patterson's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.078), 330 ft(-0.392), 660ft(-0.269), 1,000ft(-0.092). MOV: 0.0998 seconds (approximately 25 feet). Patterson faces Halsey in round two and Halsey has lane choice.

710 Jay Payne 4 Zach Barklage
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.141 6.100 234.86 0.114 6.298 224.43
 Qualified: #2 6.116 233.28 #15 6.859 222.71
Holy cow!! barklage had the better light and Payne made that up in the first 60 feet, then pulled away to win by about two car lengths. Payne faces Cody Barklage next round and will pick the lanes, running low elapsed time of the weekend so far.

775 Shelly Payne 314 Rick Stivers
E1 0.009 10.655 104.28 ****WINNER**** 0.174 6.974 155.81
 Qualified: #11 6.292 216.39 #6 6.229 222.33
Shelly cut the tree down, but her car was all over the lane and she had to lift, letting Stivers run free for the win. Stivers shook and pedaled a couple of times, but a win is a win and there are no style points. Stivers faces Critchley next round and Critchley will pick the lanes.

1 Mike Ashley 77 Troy Coughlin
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.100 6.253 229.41 0.200 18.568 48.74
 Qualified: #4 6.176 230.06 #13 6.564 172.28
Coughlin's first round of eliminations in Pro Mod finds him racing his teammate. Sounds just like Pro Stock!. Troy's car shook and he slowed almost instantly. Ashley made a clean run and will have lane choice against Kuhns.
