Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 36th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.816/125.61, Now #21; No Prior Run

Phillips with trouble early in the run and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Angie McBride Runs 7.578/170.00, Now #21; Best prior run: 20.896/25.58, Was #32
Right Lane: Connie Cohen Runs 7.225/183.71, Now #10; No Prior Run

McBride got out of the groove and close to the centerline. Cohen with a nice looking pass.

Left Lane: Scott Valetti Runs 7.190/186.76, Now #8; Best prior run: 13.252/59.78, Was #33
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.093/187.14, Now #5; Best prior run: 10.449/78.12, Was #31

A couple great looking passes here with Stoffer just tick off her career best E.T.

Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.185/184.69, Now #8; Best prior run: 9.759/158.08, Was #30
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 9.753/174.21, Now #31; Best prior run: 10.329/90.55, Was #32

Arana had problems right off the starting line, but then got back on it. Wells with a real nice looking pass.

Left Lane: Tommy Grimes Runs 7.537/172.94, Now #25; Best prior run: 8.744/103.23, Was #30
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.126/188.36, Now #8; Best prior run: 8.627/105.79, Was #29

Weather conditions: air temperature 58 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 29.89 inches, adjusted altitude 115 feet, track temperature 54 degrees.

Johnson with a great looking pass just 0.002 seconds off his career best E.T.

Gadson straight down the groove to get into the show.

DeSantis with problems right off the starting line and clicks off.

Camarena with a nice pass to get in the show.

Smith is out of the groove and then gets real close to the wall.

Berry with a nice pass to get in the show.

Schnitz with a great pass to get into the top half of the show.

Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.007/197.45, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.212/189.03, Was #18

Tonglet is so close, but only comes away with the quickest and fastest pass ever. Nice pass for Treble to get into the top half of the show.

Hines with great looking pass and he takes home the $10,000 check from Mickey Thompson Six-second Pro Stock Motorcycle Club award. Terry Vance who is partners in the Vance and Hines was the first rider into the seven-second zone and also the first rider ever in the six-second zone with a Top Fuel bike.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.024/189.95, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.063/186.37, Was #7
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.056/185.52, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.082/183.86, Was #8

A couple more good looking passes.

Scali with another great looking pass for back to back career best E.T.s. Angelle with a career best pass E.T..
