LAFAYETTE, La. -- Clack Motorsports announced today the signing of Frank Weiss Racing Components (FWRC) and Goodridge Hoses and Fittings as associate sponsors and technology partners on the team's NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driven by Will Hanna. The car will be a R&D vehicle for FWRC's new Top Fuel/Top Alcohol hemi dry sump oil pump, and will be completely equipped with Goodridge Hoses and Fittings in 2006.

The new oil pump marks a move for FWRC into the NHRA Drag Racing ranks. FWRC currently supplies the oil pumps for top Nextel Cup teams like Richard Childress Racing, and is excited about getting involved in NHRA Drag Racing. Their unique new pump scavenges the oil far better than existing hemi dry sump pumps on the market, and features an integrated oil filter. Chuck Westcott, Vice President of Operations for FWRC, is looking forward to working with Clack Motorsports to develop the pump for NHRA competition.

"This is a great opportunity for us to become directly involved with NHRA and Clack Motorsports," commented Westcott. "We look forward to our new project and the enhancements it will add to their hot rod."

Along with working on the oil system, upon the recommendation of FWRC, the team will utilize Goodridge's G-Line XF Series Smooth Bore hose and fittings. This series of hose has been shown to outperform other hoses and fittings on the market in independent tests.

"Goodridge G-Line XF hose and fittings have proven to be the best performing fluid transfer products on the market today," stated Jack Hastings, Director of Motorsports Operations, Goodridge USA. "Independent studies confirm that the XF product produces less pressure drop, has the highest flow rate, is completely scavengable, and is impervious to all chemicals. For over 35 years Goodridge has provided technical solutions to all forms of racing world wide. From Formula 1, World Rally, NASCAR, IRL, and Champ Car to the "Weekend Warriors," Goodridge has the product you need to enhance your performance. Goodridge is excited at the prospect of our technical partnership with Clack Motorsports and increasing our presence in the NHRA."

Team Owner and Crew Chief Harry Clack is excited to be partnering with FWRC and Goodridge to help R&D the new pump and as a technology partner as well.

"We are pleased to have FWRC and Goodridge Hoses and Fittings on board this season," commented Clack. "Their combined history of on track success in other forms of motorsports is a welcome addition to our team in what is sure to be a breakout season. They see good things in our program and we fully expect to deliver the performance on a level they are use to."

"In talking to Chuck over at FWRC and Jack at Goodridge, we're really stoked to get to work with companies of their caliber," added Hanna. "To be able to tap into their knowledge base is a real asset to our team. We're very excited about the capabilities of this new pump. Chuck is not only working with us on ways to utilize the improved scavenging effects of the new pump, but ways to improve the oiling system as a whole. These improvements should not only lead to improved parts life, but horsepower gains as well. With current oiling systems, the valvetrain becomes completely submerged in oil during a run because it can't get back to the pan quick enough. This not only causes a supply problem, but robs horsepower. This submersion gives a cooling effect to the valvetrain and springs at the extreme rpm's we take these engines to, but we are going to work on ways to remove the horsepower-robbing submersion and supplement the valvetrain cooling/oiling in other ways. In essence, we are reworking the entire oiling system to maximize it's effects and ensure the pump always has adequate supply from the start of the run until the engine shuts off in the shutdown area."

The Clack Motorsports team will begin testing in early February, with their first event being the NHRA Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series opener at No Problem Raceway outside of New Orleans, Mar. 3-5.
