"Warren and Kurt's track records speak for themselves," Kirk
Heinbuch, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports and Events Manager, said.
"They're consistent Top Five finishers in the Pro Stock points standings and
are great representatives for drag racing away from the track, too. We're
excited to have them on the Summit Racing team for the next three years."
Warren Johnson is a six-time Pro Stock champion, earning titles in 1992,
1993, 1995, 1998, 1999, and 2001. He's the all-time winningest NHRA Pro
Stock driver with 94 wins and was voted number seven on NHRA's list of Top
50 drivers in 2001. "The Professor" finished fourth in points in 2005.
Kurt Johnson finished second in NHRA Pro Stock points in 2005. He's earned
32 career victories since making his Pro Stock debut in 1993. He was voted
the 1993 NHRA Rookie of the Year and has since finished second in points
four times-1993, 2000, 2003, and 2005.
"We've always had an enjoyable relationship with Summit Racing," Warren
Johnson said. "They've obviously got a great marketing program, which has
put them at the forefront of the aftermarket parts industry. We're very
pleased to be a part of that again."
Warren and Kurt Johnson joined Team Summit in 2004 and will return to a team
that dominated Pro Stock in 2005. Summit Racing is the primary sponsor of
2005 Pro Stock champion Greg Anderson and Jason Line, who finished third in
Pro Stock in 2005. The company is also an associate sponsor of Pro Stock
drivers Larry Morgan and Mark Pawuk; Top Fuel drivers Doug Kalitta, Scott
Kalitta, David Grubnic, and Larry Dixon; and Funny Car drivers Tim Wilkerson
and Tommy Johnson Jr.
