Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 41st annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 24.890/38.10, Now #1

1:58 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 39 percent, barometer 29.39 inches, adjusted altitude 1,530 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Camarena got about 200 feet out, the engine revved up, then he shut down.


Left Lane: Thomas Byrd Jr. Runs 7.717/158.74, Now #2
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.370/180.91, Now #1

Byrd spins the tires and drifts toward the cenrter-line. Hale makes a clean pass.

Left Lane: Connie Cohen Runs 7.369/178.95, Now #2
Right Lane: Tom Bradford Runs 7.229/183.64, Now #1

A couple decent passes here, both right down the groove.

Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.456/181.94, Now #5
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.221/185.41, Now #1

Wells was moving around a little early in the run but hung on for a decent pass. DeSantis went right down the groove.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.285/188.02, Now #3
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.974/120.22, Now #8

Phillips made a move to the right at the hit, then the rear of the bike started moving around. He gets it under control and makes a decent pass.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.155/185.21, Now #2
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.097/189.82, Now #1

A couple of nice runs here, both right down the groove. Smith takes the early pole, Berry gets in right behind in the two spot.

Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.348/181.67, Now #7
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.196/185.18, Now #3



Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.701/139.00, Now #12
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.212/186.43, Now #4

Treble has trouble late in the run and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.072/185.13, Now #1
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.141/187.23, Now #3

Schnitz makes a good run to take the pole for now.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.091/187.60, Now #2
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.343/183.17, Now #11

Ellis makes a decnt pass to get in the third spot for now.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.162/186.85, Now #7
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.155/187.55, Now #5

This ends this first session of qualifying for the bikes, with Schnitz on the pole and Hale on the bump with a 7.370.
