HOUSTON -- Heading into this weekend's Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals David Powers Motorsports Top Fuel team is out to do more than just win a race; instead the Valvoline/ Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, piloted by 14-time NHRA national event champion 'Hot Rod' Fuller, will be flying down the fast track supporting the Blodgett family's Lupus Fundraiser.

The Blodgett Family, one of the West Coast's most successful drag racing teams with over 100 event victories including three NHRA National Event wins, dedicated their 2005 racing season to raising awareness for Lupus. Capitalizing on the high visibility of the drag racing community the Blodgett Family has been able raise awareness for Lupus while at the same time raising money for Lupus International, a nonprofit foundation for Lupus research, by selling raffle tickets for $20.00 a piece for a drawing to win a ride for four people on the Goodyear Blimp. 100% of all the proceeds will go directly to Lupus International.

On Saturday the Powers Motorsports dragster will make two qualifying passes wearing the lucky raffle winner's name.

"We're always happy to help in anyway that we can," said Fuller. "The Blodgett family is a wonderful family that has contributed a lot to drag racing and the NHRA, both the race team and myself are proud to support their fundraiser for Lupus International this weekend and we're all looking forward to helping announce the name of the lucky winner."
