Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 4.844/306.67, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.533/181.06, Was #20
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 6.073/155.29, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.911/319.37, Was #17

Pedregon loses traction and will not get into the show after qualifying number one last week. Bartone is able to get it to hook up and keep hitting on all eight to get into the show and bump out Densham.

Left Lane: Jim Head Runs 6.004/161.34, Now #19; Best prior run: 5.026/269.40, Was #19
Right Lane: Jack Wyatt Runs 4.923/275.51, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.869/287.72, Was #16

Wyatt with only his second pass this weekend and he clicked it off early. Head bang the blower and sent pressure relief panel flying high into the air.

Left Lane: Gary Densham Runs 7.440/112.28, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.876/308.00, Was #17
Right Lane: Phil Burkart Runs 4.861/307.23, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.811/308.07, Was #12

Densham started to lose traction and pedaled it one time, but was back up in smoke and clicked it off. Burkart with a good clean pass.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 12.484/74.88, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.846/315.86, Was #15
Right Lane: Bob Gilbertson Runs 4.837/317.05, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.806/312.13, Was #11

Wilkerson is up in smoke right off the starting line and clicks it off. Gilbertson with another good looking pass.

Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.820/323.81, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.822/324.51, Was #13
Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.851/311.99, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.772/323.89, Was #10

ths was a good looking drag race with Worsham running his quickest pass of the weekend. Wosham with the quickest pass of the session so far.

Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 14.386/77.53, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.731/326.08, Was #6
Right Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 5.648/178.40, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.766/324.59, Was #8

Bazemore is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Ashley started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Gary Scelzi Runs 4.797/321.88, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.716/326.40, Was #5
Right Lane: John Force Runs 8.068/97.89, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.737/326.40, Was #7

Force lost traction around 250 feet. Scelzi with a great looking pass, the quickest of the session. Gary Scelzi's incremental times: 60ft-0.898 sec., 330ft-2.311, 660ft-3.286/260.36mph, 1,000ft-4.101

Left Lane: Eric Medlen Runs 4.762/321.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.698/322.96, Was #2
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.853/302.21, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.711/326.71, Was #4

Medlen with the quickest pass of the session, Eric Medlen's incremental times: 60ft-0.900 sec., 330ft-2.303, 660ft-3.271/263.77mph, 1,000ft-4.072 Tony with a real nice looking pass.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 5.044/232.71, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.694/327.82, Was #1
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 6.682/130.87, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.711/330.31, Was #3

Capps was hazing the tires and shut it off. Hight lost traction early and clicked it off.
