Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Harold Laird No Time, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mike Moran Runs 9.077/105.94, Now #13; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 34 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 654 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Laird had problems right on the starting line and didn't move when the light turned green. Moran with a lot of tire shake.


Left Lane: Doug Palmer Runs 6.327/223.17, Now #8; Best prior run: 11.534/81.60, Was #14
Right Lane: Joshua Hernandez Runs 6.863/221.49, Now #11; Best prior run: 12.118/68.82, Was #15

Palmer with a good looking pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Brandon Pesz Runs 9.688/99.75, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.279/129.12, Was #13
Right Lane: Zach Barklage Runs 6.143/231.00, Now #6; Best prior run: 8.647/108.42, Was #14

Pesz shook and got out of the groove and then was smoking the tires. Barklage with a real nice looking pass.

Left Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 9.519/87.14, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.534/173.63, Was #10
Right Lane: Steve Engel Runs 6.137/232.03, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.880/125.80, Was #13

Patterson shook the tires and clicked it off. Engel with a real nice looking pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Frankie Taylor Runs 8.441/117.74, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.217/225.15, Was #9
Right Lane: Annette Summer No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.665/192.28, Was #12

Taylor with violent tire shake and shut it off. Summer launched off the starting line and then died and came to a stop around 150 feet. she then restarted the car and drove it on through the quarter mile.

Left Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 9.086/139.62, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.140/231.00, Was #6
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 21.297/35.11, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.186/228.04, Was #8

Both of them launched into violent tire shake and shut off.

Left Lane: Mike Bell Runs 10.030/70.86, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.131/228.96, Was #4
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 6.093/234.66, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.122/230.41, Was #3

Bell shook and shut off. King with another good looking pass to go the number two spot.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 12.158/84.69, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.010/238.38, Was #1
Right Lane: Glen Kerunsky Runs 6.095/232.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.095/232.07, Was #3

Payne shook and shut off. Kerunsky has it dial-in this weekend running his identical E.T. from yesterday.
