Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #1

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Joe Windham Runs 5.406/266.90, Now #1
Right Lane: James Day Runs 5.704/256.50, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 57 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.91 inches, adjusted altitude 18 feet, track temperature 76 degrees.

Day with a career best pass here. Windham with a good looking pass.


Left Lane: John Haley Runs 6.047/167.91, Now #4
Right Lane: David Brounkowski Runs 5.428/256.36, Now #2

Haley pushed a head gasket out. Brounkowski with a career best pass in his first National event outing.

Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.444/268.01, Now #3
Right Lane: James Thompson Runs 14.638/70.66, Now #6

Thompson with a lot of trouble off the starting line and finally clicked it off. Shields started to shake the tires and pedaled it one time and still runs big top end speed.

Left Lane: Lee Callaway Runs 5.536/258.22, Now #4
Right Lane: Brandon Pierce Runs 5.624/213.74, Now #5

It appeared Pierce pushed out a head gasket on the top end as he was trailling smoke through the lights. Callaway with a good looking pass.

Left Lane: Carl Magee Runs 5.662/251.11, Now #7
Right Lane: Ashley Force Runs 5.349/268.12, Now #1

Magee with a nice pass a career best mph. Force was able to keep it hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot.

Left Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.755/256.70, Now #9
Right Lane: Gene Snow Runs 14.068/49.63, Now #11

Thacker carries the front the end to about 200 feet and then pedale dit and blasted on through the 1320. Snow lost traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 5.254/273.94, Now #1
Right Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 12.459/59.00, Now #12

Meyer lost traction right off the starting line and had the car sideways before he clicked it off. Torrence launched hard and keep it hittignon all eight and hooked up for the number one spot.

Left Lane: Aaron Olivarez Runs 5.261/272.50, Now #2

Olivarez with a real nice looking pass, straight down the groove.
