JOLIET, Ill. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Ameriquest Mortgage NHRA Nationals:

12:08 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 66 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 1,072 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Yates gets a slight hole-shot and hangs on to the lead until just before the finish-line. Johnson drives around in a close one.

A couple of great lights here, Johnson just a little better and a little quicker on the run.

More great lights, Connolly leaves first and holds off Gaines for the hole-shot win.

These two leave the line together, then Edwards starts to pull away. Stevens starts to make up ground after the half-way point, but ran out of room.

Stanfield gets a slight advantage off the line, but it didn't last long. Line pulled even before they reached the sixty foot mark, then pulled away for the win.

Kurt Johnson will have lane choice over Line in round two.

Morgan gets a big hole-shot and extends his lead all the way through the run. Morgan will have lane choice over Connolly in round two.

Howard knew he had to have a great light to have a chance, but he just misses the tree and gives Anderson the win. Anderson will have lane choice over Warren Johnson in round two.

Krisher had a great sixty foot time, the quickest of the round, but got about 200 feet out and the car nosed over, not sure why. Enders will have lane choice over Edwards in round two.
