MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 21st annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Bill Shorts Runs 7.133/192.60, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.131/192.33, Was #29

Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 35 percent, barometer 29.84 inches, adjusted altitude 1,884 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

No help here for Shorts.

Left Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 6.993/196.47, Now #27; Best prior run: 7.079/194.91, Was #28
Right Lane: Val Smeland Runs 7.890/127.87, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.017/195.85, Was #27

Smeland got out of the groove and real close to the wall. Cunningham improves, but not near enough.

Left Lane: Max Naylor Runs 8.035/125.89, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.858/200.80, Was #24
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.830/201.10, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.988/193.13, Was #26

Naylor gets out of the groove and real close to his wall and then had another big wiggle around half track before he finally lifted. Grant makes a big improvement, but not near enough.

Right Lane: John Mahoney Runs 6.944/199.29, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.966/198.26, Was #26

WJ with a good looking pass go from outside the show to the number one spot.

Left Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 6.792/202.64, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.814/202.39, Was #22
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.824/202.85, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.846/202.36, Was #24

Benza got out of the groove, but still improved. Northrop gets into the show for now and that bumps out Enders.

Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.799/201.91, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.804/202.06, Was #20
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.813/201.91, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.813/201.73, Was #22

Koretsky with an identical ET from his earlier run and will stay number 22. Watson improves, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.806/202.24, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.802/202.67, Was #19
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.792/203.19, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.811/202.48, Was #21

No help here for here for Pawuk. Smith with a nice looking pass to get into the show and that will bump out Howard.

Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.800/202.70, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.803/202.55, Was #21

Enders with a real nice looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.825, 660ft-4.351/161.69mph, 1,000ft-5.664 That will bump out Edwards.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.815/202.18, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.795/203.40, Was #17
Right Lane: Dave Howard Runs 6.769/203.37, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.798/203.31, Was #18

Howard with a real nice pass. Dave Howard's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.818, 660ft-4.344/161.61mph, 1,000ft-5.660 Edwards slowed from his earlier pass.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.777/202.94, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.790/203.25, Was #14
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 13.843/61.37, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.794/202.97, Was #17

Stanfield had problems right off the starting line. Coughlin picks up three spots.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.777/202.33, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.789/202.79, Was #14
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 9.172/99.37, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.786/201.82, Was #12

Gaines had problems around half track and shut it off. Johnson with a real nice pass.

Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.766/203.55, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.777/203.19, Was #10

A real nice side by side drag race. Yates gets into the top half of the show.

Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.761/204.35, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.766/203.55, Was #6

This was good drag race and Morgan goes to the number two spot.
