Top Alcohol Funny Car Round 1 Eliminations

CLERMONT, Ind. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals:

6:51 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 40 percent, barometer 29.50 inches, adjusted altitude 1,650 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Harrington gets out of the groove, pedals once, then pulls away for the win. No apparent problems with Harker's run.

Lee rattles the tires of the line, gets about 200 feet out, then gives up on the run. Snyder goes right the groove and makes his quickest pass of the weekend.

Bojec gets out of the groove, drifts close to the wall, but never backs off the throttle. Martin makes his quickest run of the weekend for the win.

Newberry is the defending champ here....but he won't repeat. Hudson gets a big hole-shot, and starts pulling away. Newberry gets out of the groove early, drifts toward the center-line, then takes out the half-track ET cone. Hudson continues on , running a career best ET and speed.

Manzo gets the hole-shot and starts pulling away. Townsend gets out of the groove, drifts toward the right, then stays close to the wall all the way through the run. Manzo will have lane choice over Hudson in round two.

Bell gets the hole-shot, but Weaver pulls even at the sixty-foot mark. Weaver starts pulling away at that point and continues to extend his lead at every incremental. Weaver will have lane choice over Martin in round two.

Burnett shakes the tires right off the line. He pedals, the front end hikes up in the air, he pedals again, then finally gets the slicks to grab. Moats drives around Burnett before they reached the sixty-foot mark, then pulled away to take the win. Snyder will have lane choice over Moats in round two.

Lewis gets the hole-shot, then drifts out of the groove. He pedals once, then Payne drives around him just past the sixty-foot mark. Payne goes right down the groove to take the win and get lane choice over Harrington in round two.
