This is Medlen's first trip to the Skoal Showdown. It is Worsham's tenth Showdown. In the previous nine he had a grand total of three round wins. This is Worsham's first trip to the final round, ensuring that we will have a first-time winner no matter which lane gets the win light. Medlen has been consistently quick in the first two rounds, Worsham had to win a pedaling contest in the semifinals to get here.

They were almost even off the starting line, but Medlen's car went up in a cloud of tire smoke before reaching the 330-foot marker and Worsham finally got the win he's been looking for. Congratulations to Del, his dad, and the whole Checker, Schucks, Kragen Funny Car Team.
