MELVILLE, N.Y. -– Ebay is quickly becoming a place that one can find anything they need – including the quickest and fastest Carroll Shelby-endorsed machine on the planet. Mike Ashley, newly crowned NHRA AMS Pro Modified Champion, put his championship winning ’67 Shelby G.T. 500E up for sale on the popular online auction venue. Ashley’s proposition attracted more than just a tire-kicker or two. It caught the attention of editors for Businesswire.com, the official news source for Dow Jones.

Ashley's Gone in 60 Seconds

Ashley was blown away with the inclusion on the page.

“This is pretty incredible when you think about it,” Ashley, a New York mortgage banker said. “I think it just goes to show you the popularity of a man like Carroll Shelby and the reach that drag racing commands.”

The bid started at $395,000.00 and could reach the seven figure mark before bidding is closed December 17th.

The car is the drag race version of the 67 Shelby Mustang GT500E featured in the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds”. Carroll Shelby himself was at the finish line when Mike Ashley pulled the parachutes and stopped the 230 MPH World Championship Shelby to accept the 2004 Championship trophy.

“I believe marketing our World Championship car on Ebay would provide us with the deepest market penetration and the highest level of exposure for this transaction”, Ashley added.

Ten percent of sale proceeds will be donated to the Carroll Shelby Children’s foundation.
