ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Bob Vandergriff, Jr., owner of Vandergriff Motorsports Apparel, announced today that Vandergriff Motorsports Apparel and their Split Second Bonewear line of apparel will join Team 23 as marketing partner on the Pro Stock Motorcycles of team owner Antron Brown and three-time NHRA Pro Stock Bike (PSB) champion Angelle Savoie beginning with the Mac Tools Gatornationals, March 14-16.

Knowing that it takes a sound financial base to run on the NHRA POWERADE® Drag Racing Series, Vandergriff, a veteran Top Fuel competitor, had the following comments: "Being a racer myself I know the advantages that a sponsor brings to an operation. I also know the other side, being without a marketing partner. Vandergriff Motorsports Apparel is pleased to be able to join Antron and Angelle and assist Team 23 in their quest for the 2003 Powerade Pro Stock Bike championship."

Brown, who finished fourth in the 2002 POWERADE PSB point standings, said, "We have been working the entire off season for additional money to run Team 23 and are pleased to have Vandergriff Motorsports Apparel come on board. This will give us many of the dollars necessary to field a competitive team but we are not going to stop in our hunt for primary sponsorship that will give Angelle and me the additional funding to be contenders for the championship this season."

Savoie, who found herself with out a ride at the end of January when her former team -- Star Racing -- made a financial decision not to compete in 2003, joined Team 23 in early February. "Vandergriff Motorsports Apparel has been a part of my racing career for some time now and I am especially proud to be a part of their Split Second Bonewear apparel line," said Savoie. " It's because of the support of people like Bob Vandergriff and Greg Ozubko that I get to continue racing. They understand that my love of fierce competition is deep as the bone!"

Vandergriff Motorsports Apparel will have a compete program in the NHRA pit area to promote their association with Brown and Savoie. Added Vandergriff, "Being an apparel company we keep up with the needs and wants of the NHRA fan when it comes to apparel. We plan to have a full line of T-shirts, hats and accessories to support the program we have begun with Antron and Angelle. Their record speaks highly of their performance capabilities."

Led by crew chief Mark Peiser, Brown has 10 wins in 17 final rounds in a career that began at the 1998 Gatornationals. In 2002, he won one of three final rounds and set career best elapsed time and speed -- 7.095 seconds at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. and 193.24 mph at Englishtown, N.J. Brown's best point finish came in 2001 when he finished second.

In 2003 Savoie will be in her pursuit of her fourth consecutive championship. She is the winningest female professional competitor with 28 national event wins in 43 final rounds. She blazed to the quickest pass in NHRA PSB history when she recorded a pass of 7.049 seconds at Englishtown, N.J., in 2002. Her career best speed of 192.53 mph came on the quarter-mile at Infineon Raceway in the wine country of Sonoma, Calif. Savoie's career winning percentage of .719 in eliminations is second among all active NHRA professional competitors.
