AMERICUS, Ga. -- The new team, Prosthetic Design MotorSports, will feature Reggie Showers as rider and George Bryce as crew chief. Prosthetic Design MotorSports will utilize Star Racing's Suzuki Pro Stock engines. Headed by Tracy Slemker, President and CEO of Prosthetic Design Inc., the new team will make its debut at the Mac Tools Gatornationals, March 14-16, in Gainesville FL. "When we announced that, due to lack of funding, the Star Racing organization would no longer field a NHRA Pro Stock Bike entry, I added a guarantee; that our presence would still be felt, and we were going to do whatever we could to support the Pro Stock Bike class and help it grow. That is exactly what this arrangement allows us to do, and it is consistent with Star Racing's philosophy," Bryce stated. "An integral part of my collaboration with Prosthetic Design MotorSports and Reggie will be to provide Star Racing powerplants. This will allow our team to continue research and development efforts on Pro Stock engines.” Commenting on the formation of Prosthetic Design MotorSports and the collaboration with Bryce, Slemker said, "When I first met George at Frank Hawley's NHRA Drag Racing School in Gainesville, Florida, it was apparent that our professional objectives were on a parallel track. We both offer high quality, unique products in small, niche markets. George focuses on optimizing the performance of race engines, and I focus on optimizing the performance of prosthetic components. Little did I think that our paths would cross and we would be working together with Reggie." Slemker continued, "Prosthetic Design has been associated with Reggie for the past four years, during which time my respect for him has continued to grow. He is a gifted athlete and charismatic spokesperson, with an insatiable appetite for continuous improvement." "The benefits go further than the race track," Slemker concluded, "Reggie is also involved in our ProLAB(r) Tour, a professional workshop that provides continuing education for Prosthetists, the medical practitioners who treat amputees, and a fund raising effort with Shriners Hospitals for Children called, Helping Hands Across America(tm). He will speak at 15 hospitals this year. Race fans can visit his pit area, make a donation, and put their handprints and signatures on his trailer, which will travel the country. All proceeds will go to the Shriners, who provide free orthopedic and burn care for kids. So, I forecast good things both on and off the track". Showers, a bilateral amputee since age 14, contributed, "When I told Tracy that George had announced Star Racing wasn't going to field a bike in 2003, the wheels started turning. To have the services and experience of a team of the caliber of George Bryce and Star Racing, who have 6 national NHRA championships under their belts, is truly awesome." Star Racing, based in Americus, GA, is one of the country's premier motorcycle establishments that features a state of the art machine shop, Research & Development facility, mail-order parts business, and an unrivalled record in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle drag racing.
