GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 34th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Brian Schultz Runs 7.348/178.81, Now #1 Right Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 7.876/155.01, Now #2 10:09 AM Brian is the son of legendary Pro Stock Bike rider David Schultz. Lozano is also an NHRA rookie, on a Harley Buell. Both made full passes. Left Lane: Gary Tonglet Runs 7.377/175.84, Now #2 Right Lane: John Hammock Runs 8.141/151.97, Now #4 This is "Senior," GT's dad. Hammock is another Harley rider, a bunch of them showing up this weekend. Left Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.407/177.16, Now #4 Right Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.218/184.31, Now #1 Collis starts off his first full NHRA season with a very nice run on the "Area 51 Motorsports" Suzuki. Left Lane: Matthew Smith Runs 7.346/180.25, Now #3 Right Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 7.300/179.06, Now #2 Good runs, a pair. Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.440/175.50, Now #7 Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.667/148.93, Now #8 Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 9.173/96.58, Now #12 Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.441/175.47, Now #8 GT was off the throttle after second gear. Hale made a full pass. GT was ahead of Hale at 330 feet, for what it's worth. Left Lane: Connie Cohen No Time, Now #14 Right Lane: Brian DeLong Runs 7.467/174.04, Now #9 Cole's bike died on the line. Left Lane: Karen Stoffer No Time, Now #15 Right Lane: Greg Underdahl Runs 7.481/177.23, Now #10 Stoffer left with a 0.007 reaction time, but the bike only went a couple feet. Left Lane: Scott Lewis Runs 8.621/153.74, Now #15 Right Lane: Sam Hurwitz Runs 7.397/178.85, Now #6 Lewis sat up around half track, way off the pace. Good run by Hurwitz. Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.425/176.43, Now #9 Right Lane: Chris Reuter Runs 7.308/179.17, Now #3 Very nice pass by Reuter... Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.368/179.89, Now #6 Right Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.463/178.39, Now #13 So far, only one bike had gone red with the new CompuLink LED tree - Hines had a 0.001. Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.388/176.60, Now #8 Right Lane: Steve Johnson No Time, Now #24 Johnson's bike died after the burnout and they pushed it away. Phillips hit the middle of the field on a good pass. Left Lane: John Smith Runs 12.107/64.17, Now #23 Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.213/184.99, Now #1 The tractor made a quick pass in the right lane, so it looks like Johnson's bike left a little fluid on the track on the burnout. Smith launched hard and then something let go when he shifted into third gear. Very good run by Berry to take over the top spot. Left Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.278/183.37, Now #4 Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.257/180.39, Now #3 Nice runs, a pair. Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.239/185.22, Now #3 Right Lane: Antron Brown No Time, Now #29 Brown broke before staging the bike. Gann went way red, -0.076, on a very smooth run. Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.176/181.48, Now #1 Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.278/180.83, Now #7 "That guy from Arizona" shows them all how it's supposed to be done with an awesome move, right to the top of the field. Craig Treble's incremental times: 60ft-1.088 sec., 330ft-2.961, 660ft-4.559/152.77mph, 1,000ft-5.964. That's just a couple hundredths behind Matt Hines' Gainesville track record. Angelle fared better than teammate Brown, a smooth pass in the top half of the field.
