GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 34th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.856/293.06, Now #2; Best prior run: 0.000/0.00, Was #18

Wilkerson's run from earlier today was thrown out because of 90% nitro rule, and he comes back here with another great pass. He gives up first place because of mph.

Left Lane: Jack Wyatt No Time, Now #19; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 5.257/265.72, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.639/117.35, Was #14

Wyatt sheared the blower belt after they fired up the car. Haddock made a move in the right direction.

Left Lane: Todd Paton Runs 5.572/206.75, Now #12; Best prior run: 22.119/46.84, Was #18
Right Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 5.998/156.90, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.074/117.73, Was #14

Creasy had a whisp of tire smoke around the 330-foot mark and he clicked it off. Paton started mixing up the cylinders and it looks like he might of put some oil on the track.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 5.316/265.17, Now #11; Best prior run: 9.848/82.23, Was #18
Right Lane: Frank Pedregon Runs 4.991/302.41, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.694/176.26, Was #14

Pedregon made a move toward the centerline, but he keep his foot in it to move into the top half of the show. Capps labored it all the way through the 1320.

Left Lane: Gary Densham Runs 5.928/236.09, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.206/100.95, Was #18
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.814/317.57, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.604/179.35, Was #15

Densham improved but was mixing up cylinders from half track on. Tony had 0.895 60-foot time and was straight down Broadway for the number one spot.

Left Lane: Gary Scelzi Runs 5.787/288.73, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.975/102.61, Was #18
Right Lane: Dean Skuza Runs 4.821/308.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.943/305.18, Was #7

Scelzi started to haze the tires and pedaled it one time. Skuza with a 0.886 second 60-foot time and keep the candles lit and the tires stuck through the 1320.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 7.662/111.38, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.484/183.48, Was #14
Right Lane: Bob Gilbertson Runs 4.883/315.01, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.943/307.48, Was #7

Pedregon lost traction around 200 feet and pedaled it, then went back up smoke and clicked it off. Gilbertson with another good pass and a career best mph here.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.978/294.02, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.380/249.93, Was #13
Right Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 4.835/321.88, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.928/313.15, Was #7

Bazemore with a clean pass here and the fastest pass of the weekend. TJ with a good pass.

Left Lane: Scotty Cannon Runs 8.902/90.70, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.072/300.10, Was #11
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.914/311.41, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.882/306.12, Was #6

Cannon was up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Again Force's engine is eating itself up on the top end.

Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 4.836/314.79, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.976/307.69, Was #8
Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 6.946/125.64, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.856/307.69, Was #4

Worsham was up in smoke around 330 feet and clicked it off. Gray keep it in the groove to move up four spots.
