He saved it, but had to lift. McManama shook early in the run. Left Lane: Quain Stott Runs 6.261/228.07, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.247/227.61, Was #4 Right Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 8.335/113.23, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.815/198.54, Was #15 Quain continues to show strength here, another good run, but he stays fourth. Left Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 6.334/219.29, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.329/220.04, Was #7 Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.307/221.62, Now #6; Best prior run: 8.172/108.44, Was #18 Patterson made a good run in his "new" '41 Willys, but failed to improve and Castellana stepped around him, bumping Mike Stawicki, putting patterson on the bubble. Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.294/223.04, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.517/219.03, Was #13 Right Lane: Roy Hill No Time, Now #21; Best prior run: 12.687/107.79, Was #21 Hill's car spun the tires hard and coasted to a stop past half track. Smith made a nice run, bumping Patterson. That put fellow Texan Frankie Taylor on the bubble at 6.311. Left Lane: Al Billes Runs 8.668/104.69, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.240/223.15, Was #3 Right Lane: Chip King Runs 14.705/55.40, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.594/128.09, Was #18 It took awhile to get Hill's disabled race car off the track - seems he broke the driveshaft. King spun the tires hard and Billes skated out very close to the wall. Both lifted. Ray's car darted left and right, but he stayed with it - to no avail. Left Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.247/224.66, Now #5; Best prior run: 0.000/0.00, Was #25 Right Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.355/221.83, Now #13; Best prior run: 0.000/0.00, Was #24 Last pair. Ashley nailed this run, a nice run to bump Castellana from the field.
