GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 34th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Bill Kuhlmann Runs 6.909/163.22, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.126/159.01, Was #16
Right Lane: Cody McManama Runs 6.343/220.48, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.366/219.35, Was #9

4:41 PM Kuhlmann's car made a mjaor move toward the centerline past half track. He saved it, but had to lift. McManama shook early in the run.

Left Lane: Quain Stott Runs 6.261/228.07, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.247/227.61, Was #4
Right Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 8.335/113.23, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.815/198.54, Was #15

Quain continues to show strength here, another good run, but he stays fourth.

Left Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 6.334/219.29, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.329/220.04, Was #7
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.307/221.62, Now #6; Best prior run: 8.172/108.44, Was #18

Patterson made a good run in his "new" '41 Willys, but failed to improve and Castellana stepped around him, bumping Mike Stawicki, putting patterson on the bubble.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.294/223.04, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.517/219.03, Was #13
Right Lane: Roy Hill No Time, Now #21; Best prior run: 12.687/107.79, Was #21

Hill's car spun the tires hard and coasted to a stop past half track. Smith made a nice run, bumping Patterson. That put fellow Texan Frankie Taylor on the bubble at 6.311.

Left Lane: Al Billes Runs 8.668/104.69, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.240/223.15, Was #3
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 14.705/55.40, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.594/128.09, Was #18

It took awhile to get Hill's disabled race car off the track - seems he broke the driveshaft. King spun the tires hard and Billes skated out very close to the wall. Both lifted.

Left Lane: Mitch Stott Runs 6.201/229.00, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.200/229.12, Was #2
Right Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.481/212.96, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.539/216.91, Was #14

Stott is certainly consistent this weekend, just 0.001 seconds and 0.12 mph different on two runs.

Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.449/220.15, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.556/216.65, Was #15

Bill Hill's new car lined up against Bill Hill's old car - and neither ran quickly enough to make the field.

Right Lane: Mike Stawicki Runs 6.252/224.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.339/221.18, Was #10

Stawicki made a nice run, his '63 Corvette hiking the left-front wheel in the air from the engine torque.

Left Lane: Johnny Rocca Runs 11.983/68.50, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.489/209.20, Was #15
Right Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.490/204.35, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.466/216.45, Was #13

Rocca's car shook and he slowed. Ray's car darted left and right, but he stayed with it - to no avail.

Right Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.355/221.83, Now #13; Best prior run: 0.000/0.00, Was #24

Last pair. Ashley nailed this run, a nice run to bump Castellana from the field.
