GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 34th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Jim Sickles Runs 5.809/249.03, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.816/248.00, Was #6
Right Lane: Scott Woodington Runs 6.063/230.29, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.533/213.27, Was #14

10:15 AM Since there are only fifteen cars here, there is no bump spot. Current weather conditions: 61 degrees, 100 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.00 inches and steady, with a track temperature of 76 degrees.

Nice pass by Sickles, straight and smooth. Woodington's "plain vanilla" car was bouncing a bit, skating out toward the wall, then back to the groove. He stepped up a ton, but stayed 14th.

Two nice runs, side-by-side sixties. Despite the humidity, these two managed to twist the wick up a bit - a bunch for Moats!!

Chesterman broke on the launch and rolled slowly down the track. Nice run by Cheeseman, another sixty for the fans.

Right Lane: Thomas Frickenschmidt Runs 5.871/245.16, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.959/244.36, Was #11

Last pair, several cars saving their parts for this afternoon's eliminations round. Good efforts by both, clean runs with no obvious problems. That wraps up TAFC qualifying, they are scheduled back this afternoon for first-round eliminations.
