GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 34th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals:

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
1004 Tim McAmis 9 Quain Stott
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.103 6.269 223.21 0.058 16.132 57.33
 Qualified: #5 6.223 224.88 #4 6.214 229.65
2:40 PM Current weather conditions: 73 degrees, 69 percent relative humidity, the barometer 29.89 inches, with a track temperature of 108 degrees.

There are seven blown cars in the eight-car field, just one nitrous-boosted example. Stott's engine died on the launch after a late-night engine change. McAmis was second away from the line, but his car ran strongly all the way through the course.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
1211 Mike Ashley 2 Mitch Stott

Ashley left way early and then Stott stutter-started, shutting off and coasting through for the win.

1512 Mike Stawicki 69 Al Billes
E1 0.052 6.323 223.38 ****WINNER**** 0.065 6.260 225.62

Stawicki got a small holeshot, but Billes continues to make good runs with "the old car" (he has a new one that will be finished later this year). He will have lane choice against Mitch Stott in the semifinals.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
1 Shannon Jenkins 6 Fred Hahn
E1 0.026 6.390 217.97 ****WINNER**** 0.032 6.254 215.00
 Qualified: #8 6.259 221.40 #1 6.139 225.84
Jenkins drove well, but his car wasn't up toi the task and Hahn won handily - but his engine showed smoke in the lights and the shutdown area, so he may have a "wounded bullet." He faces McAmis in the semifinals and will have lane choice.
