Skuza's solid run guarantees him a spot in the show tomorrow. Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.908/313.37, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.743/184.70, Was #18 Right Lane: Jack Wyatt Runs 8.246/100.93, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.281/261.83, Was #17 Haddock's spot on the ladder was short-lived as Pedregon bumps him. Wyatt struck the tires at about 200 feet and he lifted. Left Lane: Scotty Cannon Runs 4.911/288.46, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.157/223.62, Was #16 Right Lane: Bob Gilbertson Runs 4.955/309.20, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.116/278.00, Was #15 Cannon was close to the centerline between half track and 1000 feet. Gilbertson's chute didn't deploy, and he slid the car sideways while making the turnoff. Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.934/304.25, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.018/299.26, Was #16 Wilkerson was a little loose on the top end but managed to go quick enough to make this an all four-second field for Sunday eliminations. Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 5.624/177.30, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.923/311.13, Was #13 Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.930/303.98, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.917/309.13, Was #11 Gray was trailing light smoke from about 400 feet through about 800 feet. I couldn't tell from here if it was tire smoke or engine smoke. Johnson dropped a cylinder almost immediately, yet still had a pretty decent pass. Left Lane: Frank Pedregon Runs 6.526/131.82, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.880/311.77, Was #6 Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 5.189/220.12, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.906/310.41, Was #8 Pedregon hazed the tires at half track. Worsham was slowing at the top end, the reason not apparent from here. Left Lane: Gary Densham Runs 6.676/130.72, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.856/317.27, Was #5 Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.915/307.86, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.892/313.29, Was #7 Densham was up in smoke at about 300 feet. Capps had a good strong pass, but also had problems after he crossed the finish line. The engine blew up about 100 feet past the finish after his throttle stuck. It was a sizeable explosion but the fire was put out very quickly by the on-board fire extinquishers. Capps is uninjured and should have no problem making the call to the line in the morning. Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 8.727/91.06, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.802/322.73, Was #3 Right Lane: Gary Scelzi Runs 5.358/201.94, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.855/318.09, Was #4 Bazemore was up in smoke at about 300 feet. Scelzi's engine went silent after it "popped" at about 900 feet. Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.876/314.09, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.768/320.13, Was #1 Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.840/317.05, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.799/320.58, Was #2 An impressive side-by-side pass for Team Castrol. Force qualifies in the top spot for the first time this season, a position teammate Pedregon has held in three of the previous six races.
