ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 34th annual K&N Filters SuperNationals presented by Pep Boys listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Terry Haddock No Time, Now #2
Right Lane: Jack Wyatt Runs 5.306/248.75, Now #1

4:43 PM -Current weather conditions: 56 degrees, 75 percent relative humidity, the barometer is 29.85 inches, with a track temperature of 76 degrees.

Haddock hit the throttle, went about 10 feet and the engine in his car blew, lifting the body and sending the escape hatch flying. He coasted to mid track and got out of the car. Wyatt shook the tires slightly but stayed with it and finished out the run.

As the track crews cleaned up after Haddock, it began to rain lightly. Race officials waited until 6:45 pm before pulling the plug on racing for tonight and ended the first round of funny car qualifying.
