Coming into this round, Force had 28 wins and six losses in elimination rounds against Capps. This time, Force rolled in deep and then fouled out when he left the starting line two-thousandths of a second too soon and wasted a 4.815 second run.

Scelzi and Pedregon have met twice before this race, with each taking one win. Pedregon's win came in the final round at Gainesville last year. This time, Scelzi shook the tires right at the start and backed off the throttle. Pedregon was strong the whole way down the track and will move on to the semi-final round.

Johnson had four wins and one loss against Wilkerson prior to this round. Like Scelzi in the previous pair, Wilkerson smoked the tires as soon as he hit the throttle. Johnson had a good run and won lane choice over Ron Capps in the semi-final round.

Worsham has beaten Bazemore 15 times in the past and lost 16 times. Two of his wins and one loss have come in final rounds. Worsham lit the red light, smoked the tires, went sideways, crossed the outer boundary and never crossed the finish line. Other than that, this run went well for him. Bazemore gave up lane choice against Tony Pedregon in the third round.
