JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Lucas Oil NHRA Route 66 Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Bill Hill No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Bill Kuhlmann Runs 6.437/219.94, Now #1

Current weather conditions: 70 degrees, 51 percent relative humidity, the barometer 29.61 inches, with a track temperature of 88 degrees.

Hill made a quick move toward the centerline and then 330 blocks. Kuhlmann was straight down the groove to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 6.339/221.71, Now #1
Right Lane: Frankie Taylor Runs 6.426/218.34, Now #2

Clean passes for both of these guys to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Fred Hahn Runs 6.255/227.00, Now #1
Right Lane: Johnny Rocca Runs 6.390/219.19, Now #3

Both cars skated around a little early in the run.

Left Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.416/220.26, Now #5
Right Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.251/225.67, Now #1

Ashley with a nice looking pass to take the number one spot

Left Lane: Mike Stawicki Runs 6.315/225.52, Now #4
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.286/224.36, Now #3

Smith with a lot of tire spin early in the run, but still lays down a nice pass.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.363/221.31, Now #7
Right Lane: Roy Hill Runs 6.250/227.00, Now #1

Hill launched hard and was able to make it stick for the number one spot for now.

Left Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.280/223.65, Now #4
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.408/219.51, Now #10

McAmis with the best pass in the left lane this session.

Left Lane: Wayne Torkelson Runs 7.358/135.66, Now #15
Right Lane: Zach Barklage Runs 6.601/178.12, Now #14

Both cars lift way early to wrap up the first round. After round one Hill is leading the pack with a 6.250 seconds and Scott Ray is on the bubble with a 6.363 seconds.
