JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Lucas Oil NHRA Route 66 Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Wayne Torkelson Runs 12.755/75.92, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.396/220.58, Was #11
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 10.775/79.70, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.262/224.47, Was #4

Current weather conditions: 50 degrees, 85 percent relative humidity, the barometer 29.93 inches, with a track temperature of 76 degrees.

Smith launched into big time tire shake and then made a quick move toward the centerline and he clicked it off. Torkelson clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Bill Hill Runs 9.574/92.57, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Roy Hill Runs 6.310/226.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.250/227.00, Was #2

Bill Hill was loose right from the start and got real close to the wall and finally clicked it off. Roy Hill with another good looking pass.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 13.966/58.14, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.339/221.71, Was #9
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.181/225.30, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.295/220.58, Was #6

Despite getting crossed up off the line Critchley runs a big number to move to the top of the list.

Left Lane: Fred Hahn Runs 6.156/229.04, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.255/227.00, Was #4
Right Lane: Bill Kuhlmann Runs 10.238/82.51, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.437/219.94, Was #14

Critchley's reign as number one qualifier was short as Hahn steps up with an even bigger number.

Left Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.453/219.15, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.416/220.26, Was #12

McGinnis comes up short of the stout 6.31 bump

Left Lane: Mike Stawicki Runs 6.340/224.70, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.315/225.52, Was #8
Right Lane: Johnny Rocca Runs 6.306/222.40, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.378/217.91, Was #10

Rocca bumps his way into the show but Stawicki falls just a little shy.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.330/222.44, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.307/220.94, Was #8
Right Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.165/227.65, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.241/224.14, Was #3

Ashley moves up to second in the order while Ray falls just short of the cut.
