HEBRON, Ohio - Friday, 8:30 PM -- As the second qualifying session for Top Alcohol Funny Cars drew to a close, Mother Nature treated racers and fans at National Trail Raceway to a light show, with lightning flashes and thunder in every direction.

Race officials suspended racing and cleared the stands, giving most spectators time to reach their cars before the rain started.

Rain replaced the lightning, thoroughly soaking the track, and race officials pulled the plug at 8:20 PM. Friday evening qualifying sessions for Top Alcohol Dragster, Pro Stock Bike, Pro Stock, Funny Car, and Top Fuel were cancelled and will not be made up.

Racing will resume at 8:00 AM Saturday.
