MADISON, Ill. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Seventh annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals:

Yates is 9-6 in career match-ups with Allen. ...make that 10-6. Yates gets the hole-shot and never looks back, pulling away at every incremental.

Geoffrion gets a big hole-shot, holds off Lastor until just before half-track, then Lastor drives around for the win.

Schmidt needs to win this round for his 100th round win, but Coughlin has never lost to him. Coughlin started his run at this race lace last year. He gets the hole-shot on Schmidt and pulls away.

This is Morgan's first start after 18 straight DNQ's. Johnson gets the holeshot but Morgan starts reeling him in. They swap the lead a couple of times and Johnson pulls ahead just as they cross the finish-line. Allen Johnson's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.001), 330 ft(-0.001), 660ft(0.001), 1,000ft(0.002). MOV: 0.0033 seconds (approximately 12 inches).

This is Johnson's 130th time as the number one qualifier and has qualified four out of seven times at this event. Half of his 90 victories have come when he qualified number one. A big upset here, Johnson is reallly late off the line and ran out of room. This makes it 0-3 for the number one qualifiers today.

Krisher is qualified fifth, his best starting position since Dallas last year. He gets the hole-shot on Adams and pulls away at every incremental.

In round two it will be Yates with lane choice vs. Stanfield, Kurt Johnson vs. Allen Johnson, Anderson vs. Lastor and Coughlin vs. Krisher.
