JOLIET, Ill. - At 9:40 a.m., Super Comp drivers Rock Haas and Bob Phillips were involved in a top-end crash during round one of eliminations. Just past the finish line, Haas, who was in the right lane in his '98 Undercover dragster, crossed in front of Phillips' '91 LeBaron. Haas hit the wall in the left lane, and Phillips swerved to miss Haas and hit the wall in the right lane. Both drivers were unhurt. Phillips, of Oley, Penn., got the win over Haas of White Lake, Mich., 8.923 to 8.933.
