JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Doug Vancil Runs 6.440/193.24, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.578/227.80, Was #3
Right Lane: Mark Conner Runs 6.595/208.68, Now #4; Best prior run: 8.989/102.05, Was #11

Conner had to fight to keep the bike off the centerline for most of this pass.

Left Lane: Steve Stordeur Runs 13.972/96.89, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.379/220.84, Was #1
Right Lane: Mark Cox Runs 14.067/55.92, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.462/215.68, Was #3

Both riders have problems on the launch and both were off the throttle before traveling 150 feet.

Left Lane: Jake Silcox Runs 6.938/182.62, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.124/196.59, Was #10
Right Lane: Bill Furr Runs 7.632/137.34, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.437/133.07, Was #11

Furr broke his transmission during his first qualifying pass. Both riders' engines were laboring during this pass, neither getting up to full power at any point.

Left Lane: Johnny Mancuso No Time, Now #6; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Joe Scatella Runs 7.124/213.70, Now #10; No Prior Run

Mancuso broke on the launch.

Left Lane: Jack Romine Runs 6.598/209.92, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.986/183.17, Was #9
Right Lane: Larry Brancaccio Runs 6.683/219.72, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.744/217.67, Was #7

Romine broke a belt at about 1000 feet during his first qualifying pass. Brancaccio was to the left of the groove for most of this pass.
