Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 18th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 6.870/201.79, Now #2; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.909/200.71, Now #11; No Prior Run

Current weather conditions: 78 degrees, 53 percent relative humidity, the barometer 29.80 inches, with a track temperature of 93 degrees.

If these two are any indication we should se a lot of shuffling here.

Left Lane: Jose Maldonado Runs 6.988/199.24, Now #25; Best prior run: 11.707/74.11, Was #30
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 8.041/126.01, Now #30; Best prior run: 13.019/65.85, Was #32

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.870/201.11, Now #3; Best prior run: 9.774/94.93, Was #31
Right Lane: Fernando Cuadra Runs 6.948/200.13, Now #21; Best prior run: 11.945/74.62, Was #32

Jeg with a nice pass to go to the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Nick Fratt Runs 6.919/201.07, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.191/200.17, Was #31
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.931/200.98, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.995/200.31, Was #29

Both improve, Fratt gets in for now, that will be short lived.

Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.913/199.91, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.015/197.67, Was #31
Right Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 6.936/200.08, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.988/199.64, Was #28

This is only the fifth run on Pawuk's car and he burned up a rear end in the earlier session. Pawuk gets in the show for now.

Left Lane: Arturo Delgado Runs 6.954/199.46, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.991/198.32, Was #31
Right Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.894/201.02, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.975/199.77, Was #29

Haas with a nice pass to get into the top half of the show. The bump is now Wilson's 6.916.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.947/199.82, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.970/200.00, Was #30
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.906/199.86, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.954/199.73, Was #28

Watson gets in the show and Gaines will have to wait until Saturday.

Left Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.876/201.65, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.927/200.00, Was #23
Right Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 6.876/200.71, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.949/200.62, Was #29

Both of these guy form the outside to the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Mike Corvo Jr Runs 6.885/201.43, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.927/200.26, Was #24
Right Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.904/199.91, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.936/199.82, Was #27

The field continues to shuffle, the bump is down to Alderman 6.907 seconds.

Left Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.869/202.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.917/200.26, Was #22
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.902/199.86, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.926/199.68, Was #25

Marnell with a great pass to go to the number two spot and Yates sneaks into the show.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.886/200.66, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.909/199.95, Was #21
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.880/201.25, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.926/199.91, Was #25

Edwards changed engines between rounds and goes to the top half of the show. Johnson gets in the show and that bumps out Yates.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.890/201.52, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.908/201.16, Was #21
Right Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.901/201.38, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.916/201.20, Was #24

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 22.631/64.79, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.907/200.08, Was #22
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.900/198.63, Was #17

Coughlin had problems getting the car to fire the crew is scrambling, but can't get to fire. Alderman had problems right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.861/202.06, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.890/201.74, Was #12
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.862/202.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.900/201.02, Was #16

This was a good side by side drag race here for number one and two.

Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.859/202.06, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.884/201.29, Was #11
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.861/201.83, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.899/201.52, Was #16

Great looking pass for the home town hero for the number one spot. Nice pass for Morgan.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.840/202.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.864/201.65, Was #5
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.868/202.33, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.884/202.15, Was #12

Anderson like he has been doing all season long just crushes them with a picture perfect pass. Haas is on the bubble at the end of the first day with a 6.894.
