Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #3

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 18th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 6.341/227.33, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.323/225.96, Was #9
Right Lane: Bill Hill Runs 6.507/216.39, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.449/215.62, Was #16

Left Lane: Kirk Kuhns Runs 9.548/91.31, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.303/216.34, Was #6
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.402/221.94, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.682/208.38, Was #19

Kuhns starts rattling the tires right off the line, pedals two or three times to try to save the run, but finally gives up. Critchley makes a big improvement but still isn't in the show.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 8.228/117.11, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.304/222.66, Was #7
Right Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 6.343/220.53, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.452/212.86, Was #18

Rowe makes a good run, right down the groove, but still doesn't get in the show.

Left Lane: Wayne Torkelson Runs 6.426/217.97, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.413/217.97, Was #17
Right Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.519/216.08, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.535/215.93, Was #19

No help for either driver.

Left Lane: Frankie Taylor Runs 6.338/224.32, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.331/222.11, Was #11

Taylor is right on his time from yesterday but doesn't get in the show.

Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.306/209.88, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.297/221.45, Was #5

Castellana makes a decent pass but doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 9.299/95.89, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.381/220.91, Was #14

Radford gets about 100 feet out, starts shaking the tires and shuts down.

Left Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 6.271/226.18, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.287/225.73, Was #3
Right Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.377/223.71, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.292/224.38, Was #4

A couple of decent runs here, Patterson improves on his earlier runs but not enough to move up in the field. Ashley slows a little from yesterday but is still in the fourth spot.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 17.751/44.30, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.243/225.67, Was #1
Right Lane: Mitch Stott Runs 6.484/224.43, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.343/225.00, Was #12

Smith makes a hard move toward the wall right off the line and shuts down.

Left Lane: Al Billes Runs 6.319/224.94, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.391/222.16, Was #15
Right Lane: Fred Hahn Runs 6.402/221.18, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.308/225.16, Was #8

Billes makes a big improvement but still doesn't break into the field. Hahn slows from his earlier runs but stays on the bump.

Left Lane: Shannon Jenkins Runs 6.257/224.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.256/224.71, Was #2
Right Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.294/224.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.325/225.11, Was #11

Jenkins makes another great run, right down the groove, and he stays in the second spot. McAmis improves, running his quickest of the weekend, and he moves into the show in the fifth spot.
